Clearing into Mexico reminds me that no matter how much you read, nothing is the same as doing it yourself. We’re checked in & all is well.
Back from wonderful dinner and visit with @sholden and family. Such a nice way to wind up my visit to the USA.
Laundry is done, muffins are in the oven, oil and antifreeze topped up in the engine. And it’s not even noon!
Clearance papers were easy, the customs officers were all very nice. Now we just have to manage to get out of town in the next few days.
Off to do the bureaucratic shuffle. Do the hustle!
#nanowrimo is kicking my ass this year. Why is that I have no time? How can this be; I’m footloose and fancy free.
Ran into folks I though were already way down in Mexico today. Cruising makes even big cities into small towns.
Finally caught up with my word count. This had been the hardest #nanowrimo yet. Is the the new genre or the crazy nomad life? You decide.

Twitpoll: Other than the zoo, wild animal park & SeaWorld, what’s cool in San Diego?
My #nanowrimo novel in a nutshell: http://tinyurl.com/5tkukj
I am, apparently, an excellent procrastinator.
In San Diego!
Having amusing phone calls with customs. It takes a while for us both to realize that coming from the *north* is atypical.
“There were never any good old days/they are today they are tomorrow/it’s a stupid thing we say/cursing tomorrow with sorrow” Gogol Bordello
Reminded that my life is not perfect. I will not see Leonard Cohen on this tour.
Continuing to enact the LA avoidance plan. Now ensconced in Avalon. Crazy toursit town - makes me miss Two Harbors, but still very nice.
Enjoying the sun on the patio bar at Two Harbors on Catalina Island. And now AC/DC is on the radio. This is living.
Santa Barbara has been amazing, but three days is a long time. Gotta move on.
Damn, it’s windy.
The boat gremlins stole my hairbrush and my spare glasses. WTF?!
Kind of catching up on #nanowrimo. Damn it’s hard when it’s so nice outside. I’m used to doing this in the winter!
Firing up Pandora. I didn’t know I’d sat in the screaming section.
Trying to get some writing done at the Santa Barbara Roasting Company.
Y’know, they’re all right about the weather totally changing past Point Conception. It’s awesome here!
Getting a bunch of words in before we set sail for Santa Barbara.
Chugging away at word count, both for #nanowrimo and the blog. Today’s been a good day.
U.S. election results - some good, some bad. Reminds me that while this is a nice place to visit, I wouldn’t want to live here.
Minor failure. Writing is going okay, & we aren’t dragging anchor. But I can’t avoid the election! Have to turn off the “Eat Fish!” wifi.
Avoiding election news (sorta) by writing while on the hook in San Luis Obispo.
Succumbing to the lure of Stephen Chow.
Bought Kung Fu Hustle at the supermarket today. Like that’s going to help my word count.
Stupid internet. Why can’t you abandon me when I need to be writing, not the whole rest of the time?!
Of course on the day I decide to plug away at #nanowrimo, I finally get working internet on board.
Nano day one. I already fell out if love with my story. Hopefully it turns around soon. #nanowrimo
